About Emerald Counselling Services

Margaret Zjadewicz
Registered Social Worker, BSW MSW

Margaret is a therapist trained in EMDR who specializes in supporting individuals navigating the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis or chronic illness—whether newly diagnosed, living with the long-term realities of a diagnosis, or coping with the aftereffects of treatment. She has extensive experience working in various hospital settings, including both inpatient and outpatient cancer care.

Her therapeutic approach is relational and integrative, combining EMDR, somatic practices, and cognitive behavioural techniques. She also incorporates nervous system regulation and psychoeducation to help clients understand trauma responses and develop tools that foster self-trust and emotional safety.

In sessions with Margaret, clients find a grounded, non-judgmental space where each story is honoured and the pace is respected. Sessions may include exploring the deeper roots of experiences, mapping out emotional landscapes, or processing difficult memories in ways that feel manageable and empowering.

Margaret’s goal is for clients to leave each session feeling heard, seen, less alone, and more anchored in themselves. She works collaboratively to help shape new narratives rooted in agency, clarity, and care.

Margaret holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Forensic Psychology with First Class Honours, a Bachelor of Social Work with Distinction, and a Master of Social Work. She is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

To enhance her therapeutic skills, Margaret has completed trainings in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Somatic EMDR, EMDR, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Walking with Grief: Helping Others Deal with Loss.
